Practical AI systems for pharma, healthcare & medcomms

I build focused AI tools and workflows for medical communications, compliance, and patient content. Practical systems, careful boundaries, and real-world use cases.

I'm the founder of PharmaTools.AI and creator of tools including MedCheckr, RefCheckr, Patiently AI, and the Medical Writing AI Playbook. My work sits between medical communications, applied AI, and product development, with a focus on building tools that solve real workflow problems.

I’m not a traditional AI consultant. I work best when there is a concrete problem to solve, whether that is reference checking, compliance review, literature workflows, or clearer patient communication. Sometimes that starts with a conversation, but the goal is usually to design, prototype, and build something useful.

What I build

01

Medical Writing Workflows

AI tools that support literature review, reference verification, drafting, content checking, and other high-friction medcomms tasks.

02

Compliance-Aware Systems

AI workflows designed for regulated environments, including claim checking, document review, and explainable outputs aligned with pharma codes.

03

Patient Communication Tools

Applied AI systems that make complex medical language clearer for patients while respecting clinical and regulatory boundaries.

04

Internal AI Prototypes

Early-stage tools, copilots, and workflow experiments that help teams test real use cases before committing to larger builds.

How collaborations usually start

Step 01

Identify the workflow problem

We look at the bottleneck, friction point, or repetitive task that is slowing your team down.

Step 02

Prototype a focused solution

I design a lightweight proof of concept around the use case rather than starting with a vague AI strategy exercise.

Step 03

Test with real content

We refine the outputs, guardrails, and UX using the kind of material your team actually works with.

Step 04

Integrate or expand

If the prototype works, it can evolve into an internal tool, API integration, or client-facing product.

What I offer

Custom AI Tool Prototypes

Focused proof-of-concept builds for teams exploring a specific workflow challenge in pharma, medtech, or healthcare communication.

Workflow Automation

Practical AI-assisted systems for repetitive or time-consuming tasks such as reference checking, literature search, content triage, or medical review support.

Compliance-Aware AI Design

Systems built with regulated use cases in mind, including explainability, auditability, and careful handling of high-risk outputs.

RAG and Knowledge Workflows

Retrieval-based systems that work from trusted source material rather than open-ended prompting alone.

API and Product Integration

Embedding AI capabilities into existing platforms, internal tools, or digital products through lightweight integrations and applied product thinking.

Targeted Advisory

When useful, I can also help shape the brief, sense-check an idea, or advise on how a build should start, but I tend to work best on practical implementation rather than broad AI training.

Who I work with

I work with pharma teams, agencies, healthtech companies, and startups that need more than general AI advice. Most collaborations involve a real workflow problem, a specific use case, and a need for something practical that can be tested quickly.

  • Pharma teams Compliance and content workflows
  • Agencies Medical writing and review tools
  • Medtech companies Patient-facing AI applications
  • Startups Prototype builds and product thinking

Common questions

Do you do AI workshops or training?

Occasionally, but that is not the main focus of my work. I am usually a better fit for teams that want to design, prototype, or build a specific AI solution.

Can you help us explore an idea before building?

Yes. Many projects start with a short conversation to define the workflow problem and decide whether a prototype makes sense.

Do you work internationally?

Yes. I work remotely with teams across the UK, Europe, and beyond.

What kinds of projects are the best fit?

The strongest fit is where medical content, regulation, and AI overlap, especially in medical writing, compliance, literature workflows, and patient communication.

Have a workflow problem in mind?

If you’re exploring a specific AI use case in medical communications, compliance, or patient content, feel free to get in touch. The best conversations usually start with a real problem rather than a general discussion about AI.
